
Chief Moshood (M.K.O.) Abiola was a Muslim businessman and philanthropist living in Nigeria. In what appeared to be a free and fair election in June 1993, he was elected president. However, after winning the election, he was arrested.
In July 1998, after Abiola had been released for a month, Abiola was found dead after meeting with the U.S. delegation.
