
On this day in 1988, the Tripatriate Accords were signed, ending foreign troop involvement in Angola. They also granted independence to Namibia.
These accords were signed between the United States, the USSR, and Cuba, who all had various involvement fighting in the Angolan Civil Wars, which served as a proxy war during the Cold War.
