
The Paris Agreement is the latest in a long line of United Nations agreements on combating climate change. Back in June 1992, the UN gathered to negotiate the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, or UNFCCC.
While later agreements like the Kyoto Protocol were designed to close loopholes in the UNFCCC, it was a key first step in the fight against climate change.
